Belgian director Anthony Schatteman’s first feature film subtly delves into the emotions of adolescence. Elias, 14, lives a seemingly normal life in a small village in Flanders, between his group of friends and his family. When his new neighbour Alexander arrives, he new feelings awaken that are going to turn his world upside down. He’s going to have to learn to accept them, despite the chaos inside. <

Anthony Schatterman, born in 1989, is a director and scriptwriter who graduated from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Ghent and holds a master’s degree in film studies and visual arts from the University of Antwerp. His first short film, Kus me zachtjes (2012), received critical acclaim at international festivals. Alongside his work in film, Schatteman has also contributed to a number of television series. Young Hearts is his first feature film.
