‘Workshop with Mariam Batsashvili (piano)’

9 Dec.'16
- 00:00

Invite Mariam Batsashvili into your classroom! This 23 year old talented pianist from Georgia was the first woman to win the prestigious Franz Liszt Piano competition in 2014. On Friday 9 December she will be giving the audience in the Centre for Fine Arts a flavour of the poetic side of Liszt’s music. Before her performance, she would be more than happy to pay your class a visit. "I want to play short, fun pieces on the piano and ask the pupils what emotions the music evokes", says the pianist. "That’s how they realise that music is about feeling, and not just soulless finger acrobatics. I also want to share different periods of musical history with the pupils and teach them about the learning process – from a new score to the actual performance. In the meantime the pupils can ask as many questions as they like."
