‘Walk With Amal’

6 + 7
Oct.'21

One little girl, one big hope

In The Walk we meet ‘Little Amal', a giant puppet representing a young Syrian girl and through her all the displaced children in the world. Little Amal makes a long journey of 8000 kilometres through Turkey, Greece, Italy, France, Switzerland, Germany, Belgium and the United Kingdom. This remarkable performance seeks to provide an artistic answer to our troubled times: a cultural odyssey that transcends borders, politics and language.

On 6 and 7 October, Amal will be with us in Brussels for an exceptional artistic stopover! In Brussels, circus artists and dancers create a dance performance around Amal, with Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui as artistic advisor. At Abattoirs, the venue of the performance, we discover a little Amal haunted by her memories. All around her, what once seemed normal suddenly appears threatening. The Children's Choir of la Monnaie will be there to celebrate Amal with children, artists and adults all together.

A project of letters from all over the world for Amal is on its way to the National Theatre to give voice to thousands of children. A selection of letters will be read by the children at the Place de la Monnaie in several languages as a closing to these two days in Brussels. Participate and write a letter with your friends, your family or your class!
