‘Vlaanderen Galeriestad’

This conference, which is titled Vlaanderen Galeriestad and is organised by BUP (the Federation of Belgian modern and contemporary art galleries), addresses a number of pressing questions. What are the challenges and opportunities for art galleries? Is the government’s relationship with the gallery sector more than just a LAT relationship? How can galleries cooperate on the national and international level to extend their reach? What is the status on the different subsidies and the resale right? How can galleries contribute to the better conservation of artistic and creative heritage?
These, and many other questions, will be discussed during the five sessions at the conference. Sven Gatz, the Flemish Minister for Culture, will attend, sharing his views on the Flemish gallery sector and its international significance, and as a promotor of artistic creation.
