Die Frau, nach der man sich sehnt
On the occasion of the Luxembourg Presidency of the Council of the European Union, BOZAR welcomes United Instruments of Lucilin, contemporary music ensemble from Luxembourg.
In this cine-concert, directed by German conductor Christian Schumann, the iconic actress Marlene Dietrich encounters the subtle music composed by Luxembourg vibraphonist Pascal Schumacher in an ambitious and innovative musical illustration of the 1929 silent movie Die Frau, nach der man sich sehnt (The woman one longs for). In this melodrama directed by Kurt Bernhardt and based on Max Brod's novel, the beautiful and mysterious Stascha (Marlene Dietrich) crosses path with Henri Leblanc, who is looking to marry a rich woman in order to ensure the financial future of the family firm. A fatal encounter, as it turns out, as it ends in a horrific murder. Insatiable composer who likes to merge genres (jazz, classical music, electro...), Pascal Schumacher's renown keeps on growing. Since his 'Golden Django for Young Talent' in 2005 and the prestigious 'ECHO JAZZ Personality of 2012', he has been pretty much constantly present on the international stage.
