My name is Rosine Mbakam. I am from Cameroon where I grew up respecting traditions until I was 27. My mother’s name is Mâ Brêh in Bamiléké. She is 68 years old and has always lived in Cameroon. She grew up in the Maquis where her family, like many others, fled the repression of French colonists. She got married at the age of 18 to a man her parents introduced her to. In 2007, I left to study in Belgium and follow my dreams. The film is a face-to-face confronting and questioning the choices of the two women. Two generations looking at each other. Two women who discuss their intimacy, their sufferings and their desires.
Born in Cameroon, Rosine Mbakam chose cinema very early on and got her education in the capital Yaoundé. Driven by the desire to develop her cinematographic vision, she moved to Brussels and joined INSAS in 2007. To date, Rosine has made six documentaries and two short fiction films, which have toured the world of film festivals. Alongside her work as a producer with Tandôr Production & Films in Cameroun, Rosine teaches at Kask in Gent.
