
A colossal Cate Blanchet is a conductor in crisis
Lydia Tár (Cate Blanchett) is the avant-garde conductor of a major German symphony orchestra, at the peak of her art and her career. Her book launch is approaching, and she is preparing a much-anticipated concert of Gustav Mahler’s famous Symphony No. 5. But within a few weeks, her life unravels. Through the story of the main character, the film exposes the mechanisms of power, their impact and their endurance in our society.
Todd Field (1964) is an American filmmaker and actor known for his realistic portrayals of complex characters and relationships. He made his feature film debut with In the Bedroom (2001), which got him an Oscar nomination for Best Director, followed by the equally widely lauded film Little Children in (2006).
The film will be in theaters January 25 2023.
