The all-round musician and artist, Tamer Abu Ghazaleh is a leading figure in modern Arabic culture. His concert at BOZAR, which comes to an end the day of the launch of the Darwish Chair, is an ode to modernity: “Between his harsh vocals, skittish-turning-to-an intense rhythm, flowing voices, energetic beats and other effects which he creates from his computer, the emotional surges from his musicians, this unique show is in a class of its own”, reports Télérama. An explosion of emotions that is not to be missed.
Born in Cairo and educated in Ramallah, the Palestinian singer who is also a multi-instrumentalist, composer and producer, launched his debut album in 2001. The album comprises songs he wrote since he was five years old, with lyrics largely based on works by Darwish. A relentless traveller, he has performed at concerts in Beirut, London, Tunis, Constantine, Liverpool, Manchester, Budapest, Stockholm, and Copenhagen, and actively collaborates with other artists, including Maryam Saleh, Reem Kelani and Yacoub Abu Ghosh.
