‘Takacs Quartet’

Boris Giltburg

Dvořák is at the heart of this programme presented by the Takács Quartet, one of the great Hungary chamber ensembles, and Boris Giltburg, the superb First Laureate of the Queen Elisabeth Competition in 2013. The Dvořák Piano Quintet, Op. 81, is one of the composer's most beautiful and most radiant works. His String Quartet No. 14, written when Dvořák was at the height of his powers, was to be his final contribution to the chamber music repertoire. Between these two Dvořák masterpieces, we hear a work that Webern wrote at the age of 22 and that still shows the influence of Romanticism.
