This Joyful Birth
“It’s never a good idea to miss a concert from this British vocal ensemble: there are no finer singers of early music,” the New York Times said of Stile Antico. This ensemble brings you a delightful Christmas concert with medieval and Renaissance music about the Christmas period with stories about Advent, the birth of Christ with the visit of the shepherds and kings, to the feast of Candlemas. Motets by Byrd, Lassus, and Sheppard, medieval carols, and irresistible dances from Spain and Germany illustrate this programme. One of the highlights is Victoria’s version of perhaps the oldest Christmas song O magnum mysterium that sings of the mystery of Christ’s birth. Get ready for a wonderful Christmas concert!
