Creative Resilience. Collaborate, Create, Innovate
For this new edition of the STARTS Prize, from 3 December to 9 January, Bozar is hosting sustainable projects that promote social, ecological and economic innovation through collaboration between the arts and new technologies.
Every year, the STARTS Prize rewards innovative projects at the nexus of science, technology and the arts that tackle the social, ecological and economic challenges of contemporary European society. The two main STARTS Prizes reward works of art that either influence or change our perception of technology, or give rise to new collaborations between the private sector and the world of culture.
For this new edition, the STARTS Prize exhibition at Bozar will focus on different themes: on speculative design in the fields of food waste and bio-design, on the preservation of natural species, climate change and data pollution, and on the new connections emerging between humans and technology. All of these themes look forward to the advent of a sustainable society compatible with the latest technological developments. This is an area in which Slovenian artists have long excelled, and the exhibition devotes a separate room to them on the occasion of the Slovenian Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
Our exhibition will host the winners of the STARTS award, the artists who won honourable mentions, the nominees and many other amazing projects!
Winners of the STARTS PRIZE '21 have been announced in June 2021. More info.
On Saturday 11 Dec.’21, we invite you to meet the artists from Fab Lab Barcelona for a three-hours biomaterials workshop called ‘Remix Bozar’ to experiment material design through bio recipes and manufacturing processes that promote sustainability, circularity, biodegradability and zero waste.
