‘Special Evening: Atelier Dérives’

For the past 40 years the films created by the Federation Wallonia-Brussels Dérives production workshop, created by Luc and Jean-Pierre Dardenne in 1977, have provided a powerful vision of the world which is firmly fixed in social and historical reality. But above and beyond this anchoring, the films bear witness to the need for a politically committed point of view of society. At Dérives, this original perspective belongs to both men and women. However, even if they have been present since the beginning of this workshop, today female directors occupy an increasingly important, pertinent and innovative place. By screening four recent films and organising an encounter with the female directors, this event attempts to find out more about the role they play in the continuity of production.
