‘"Souviens-toi de l'envol", persian poetry night by maelstrÖm reEvolution’

Persian poetry, and poets like Hafez and Saadi, is world-renowned. But what about the poetesses? Brussels-based publishing house maelstrÖm reEvolution is presenting a programme of women’s voices from Persian poetry at Bozar. The occasion is the publication of an anthology featuring nearly 1,000 years of Persian poetry by women from Iran, Afghanistan, and the diaspora. The date was chosen specifically for symbolic reasons. It is one year after the tragic death of the Iranian woman Mahsa Amini in a prison cell, which led to weeks of protests. During the programme at Bozar, there will be readings in a show of symbolic support to the Iranian people by poets Niloufar Sadighi, Somaia Ramish, and Mahtab Ghorbani. David Giannoni will moderate.
