The icon of Algerian Chaâbi folk music is presenting her new album Oumniya (My Wish). In these pop-like, almost danceable tracks she proves herself both more personal and militant than ever: she sings about love, freedom and emancipation, but also offers songs with a very direct message to those in power in her native country.
