‘Sollazzo Ensemble’

On Sunday afternoon, the sensational Sollazzo Ensemble treats you to a unique example of the Burgundian repertoire. The three young women perform pieces from the Leuvens Liedboek, recently discovered and now in the care of the Stichting Alamire. It’s a true revelation: it contains not only the repertoire, forgotten for centuries, but also an exquisite collection of late Burgundian polyphony. Nowhere is the ‘sombre melancholy’ described so beautifully by historian Johan Huizinga showcased as wonderfully as it is in this chansonnier.
