Two charismatic string players time-travel between baroque colours to present day sounds.
At first glance, Sol Gabetta and Patricia Kopatchinskaja are quite simply opposites: Sol concentrates mainly on the great repertoire, while Patricia - invariably barefoot - likes to explore the 20th-century legacy. But when this duo shares the stage together, magic is guaranteed. With their cello and violin in hand, they take you on a journey from Baroque gems by Bach and Scarlatti to Modernist works by Ligeti, Xenakis and Widmann. Intermittently, they introduce you to the fine unknowns Coll and Illés. Central to this unparalleled adventure from Baroque to Contemporary is the Sonata for Violin and Cello by Ravel, the colourful magician whom Bozar is highlighting extensively this season.
