November 2016. Lutenist Sofie Vanden Eynde is afraid that her heart will stop beating. Her doctor sets out the diagnosis in print: burnout. She is a burnt-out house. The music stops too. Adrenaline clings to her strings; to play is to die. She stopped – for almost a year. Today, she takes stock. Her strings speak differently now: the silence between the notes has gained in meaning. Sofie captures her experiences of burnout in a recital between noise and clarity, confusion and silence, discord and harmony. With music by John Dowland, Francesco da Milano, de Visée, de Narvaéz, and new work by Vladimir Gorlinsky. Author Annemarie Peeters seeks words for Sophie's journey to zero and back, and a new composition binds itself to her words.
Alongside her recital, lutenist Sofie Vanden Eynde invites you to an introduction to Feldenkrais, a somatic method using a holistic approach to human development through movement. The emphasis is on learning. The personal experience allows the creation of new motor patterns, best adapted to the structure of each person. Through the absence of all superfluous movement and unnecessary muscular work, the gestures become more comfortable, fluid and beautiful.
This introductory workshop is provided by Anne van der Aa, who has always been passionate about people in motion and self-awareness through movement. She has been teaching aikido, among other things, for more than thirty years and the Feldenkrais method for more than twenty-five years.
