The story of Shindisi is based on real events that occurred during the Russian military intervention in Georgia in 2008. Shindisi is the name of a place where Russian occupation forces sieged Georgian military after peace corridor was promised, when ordinary villagers took risks to save wounded Georgian soldiers.

Dito Tsintsadze is a Georgian film director and screenwriter. He has directed fifteen films since 1988. His feature film Lost Killers was screened in the Un Certain Regard section at the Cannes Film Festival of 2020. In 2007 he was a member of the jury at the 29th Moscow IFF. Since 1996 he lives and works in Berlin.
