IRAN

The Kurdish-Iranian singer Shahram Nazeri is a phenomenon in his home country: his albums invariably break sales records and his concerts do the same with attendance numbers. His expressive, warm voice and choice of lyrics have made him one of the best loved singers in Iran. He can also be credited with introducing a large European and American audience to Kurdish and Persian Sufi music, which has earned him countless international prizes and awards.
His family introduced him to the world of music at a very young age, and he went on to follow an intensive training with true Iranian masters of the craft. The work of mystical 13th century poet Rumi serves as an inexhaustible source of inspiration. Nazeri will be here at BOZAR in the company of the Dastan Ensemble, with who he has been performing since 1995.
