‘Sensory Walks for schools’

When Art Meets Science

Secondary education

Are you a secondary school teacher? Then why not sign your class up for one of BOZAR's Sensory Walks at the ‘I Love Science’ festival? Stéphane Marin takes your pupils on an audio tour of the city, and introduces them to new ways of listening. Sounds in their headphones merge with natural noises in the background to transform the urban environment into a sonic landscape. Or send them on a scent tour with artist Klara Ravat, who takes to the city on foot to examine the nose from a scientific perspective. “Take a sniff without looking around you. Do we all smell the same thing, or is it open to interpretation?” Klara explains why our brains build a collective memory of a particular place and odour, and why every place develops its own highly personalised aroma. Have a go, experiment and learn something new!
