Programme
Each musician perfectly attuned to the other, the Taksim trio combine traditional Turkish music, jazz, rock and classical music to hypnotic effect. They play traditional instruments to create a music that is anything but traditional. Expect catchy gypsy music and driving electronic jazz interspersed with inspired improvisations. The trio is trendsetting in contemporary Anatolian culture and their diverse approach is attracting an ever wider international audience. For this unique concert, the band will welcome the exceptional clarinet virtuoso, Ismail Lumanovski.

KURT OVERBERGH plays TURKISH PSYCHEDELICA
AB artistic director Kurt Overbergh is still reeling from the magnificent performance by the Turkish folk hero of the 70’s Selda at ‘Le Guess Who?’ in 2014. It was the starting point for his relentless search for delightfully danceable – and often politically charged – Turkish psychedelica. Grand masters such as Erkin Koray, Bariș Manço and Edip Akbayram take their turn on the turntables alongside such contemporary trendsetters as Altin Gun, Derya Yildirim and Gaye Su Akyol. Standing still is not an option, as confirmed by his set at the latest edition of Tomorrowland.
DJ set at 20:30 and at 23:00 (TerArken 2)
Free - on presentation of a See festival ticket of January 28.
The electro-acoustic live trio Islandman was born of the musical dreams of Tolga Boyuk from Istanbul. He represents a fictitious character, a musical persona, a dreamer composing the stories of a non-existent place. The music is a unique mix of mellow electronic structures and dance beats with guitar sounds and shamanic rhythms. For this latest project, the trio are joined by the legendary Turkish jazz fusion percussionist, Okay Temiz.
