1st Laureate Queen Elisabeth Competition 2018 - Voice
In June 2018, the 28-year old German baritone Samuel Hasselhorn won the prestigious Queen Elisabeth Competition. As you will perhaps remember, he already caught the eye of the judges and the audience during the semi-final by making a rather radical choice, namely to sing German lieder only. But he made the right choice and in so doing, also demonstrated considerable strength of character and intelligence. And now he returns to the stage in the Henry Le Boeuf Hall, where he is expected to triumph again, with a programme that is dedicated entirely to the same German four, i.e., Schubert, Schuman, Brahms and Wolf. A journey through the land of melody, characterised by an outpouring of romantic feelings, the intimacy of chamber music and the endlessly profound lyricism of German poetry. A unique opportunity to hear the young baritone sing again, before he returns to BOZAR next March in Carl Maria von Weber’s legendary Der Freischütz!
