‘Saetas: Hymns of the Holy Week’

2 Mar.'17
- 20:00

This concert presents the little known spiritual dimension of flamenco. Saetas (Christian hymns sung in Andalusia) are sung during Holy Week and play an important role in the processions commemorating the Passion of Christ during this period. A Santero sings them acapella, alternately with extracts of music performed by a brass and drum ensemble which accompanies the crowd. Rediscover these particularly moving songs, which are part of the sacred flamenco repertoire, in the majestic Church of our Blessed Lady of the Sablon. The acoustics and atmosphere of this venue are ideally suited to the performance of saetas.
