‘Romina Lischka & Maude Gratton’

- 19:00

Carl Phillipp Emanuel Bach wrote three sonatas for viola da gamba, as did his illustrious father. These came about while he served at the Berlin court of Frederick the Great. In these pieces, he offered the performer an opportunity to showcase his virtuosity and sensitivity. Carl Friedrich Abel was known in his time as one of the most gifted gamba players. Most of his oeuvre is now forgotten, but his Suite in D is undoubtedly among the finest in the gamba repertoire. The renowned Austrian musician Romina Lischka, one of the viola da gamba’s great ambassadors, brings out the deep, round tone of this historic string instrument in all its glory. She is skilfully accompanied by the top French harpsichordist Maude Gratton.
