Rokia Koné's pure, supple voice is at home in almost any situation, whether it is over bass lines, traditional percussion or driving guitar grooves. She is not without reason one of Mali's most promising artists. For her first album BAMANAN, the singer worked with Irish rock producer Jacknife Lee, known for his work with bands such as U2 and Snow Patrol. On this album, she builds a fascinating bridge between tradition and contemporary influences: the traditional sounds of Mali and the dynamic urban life of its capital Bamako meet the innovative technology of a Californian recording studio.
