‘Rocio Marquez’

Rocío Márquez is a peerless singer of traditional flamenco. Not satisfied, however, with performing for aficionados, she sets out to breathe new life into the genre. First and foremost, she aims to express "what nobody knows or can describe, but is present inside each of us, to one degree or another". Her BOZAR concert is based on her most recent CD, El Niño ("The Child"). It is dedicated to Pepe "El Niño" de Marchena, a renowned flamenco singer who made his debut as an adolescent – hence his nickname – and died in 1976. She is accompanied by a number of musicians.
