Roda Fawaz / Theatre Loyal du Trac / Théâtre de Poche

Roda is a man of the world. Of Lebanese origin, he was born in Morocco, grew up in Guinea, has Belgian nationality and says he is Italian to make things easier when he goes clubbing. A second generation immigrant, which means, for some, "not really like them", and for others "not yet really like us", Roda is caught between his need for emancipation and his need to be from somewhere. With On the Road… A, he acts out his life story with self-depreciating humour, playing about 20 characters: his friends Mohamed and Dorothée, a fantasy father, a terrifying teacher of Islamic religion, his families here and elsewhere, while deconstructing a string of prejudices along the way.

A salutary work that confronts us with our tendency to reduce others to a presumed membership of a given circle rather than welcoming them into ours.
