
Filmdirector Ham Chun-su arrives in Suwon for a screening of one of his movies a day too early. With time on his hands he ends up meeting the young female painter Yoon Heejuong. They stroll, talk, eat sushi and drink much too much soju. A subtle game of attraction and repulsion unfolds. Maybe this is the beginning of a romance? Then suddenly, we start all over again.
Right Now, Wrong Then, is a dryly humorous story in two halves about looking and about how we remember having seen or perceived something. With only the slightest of changes life can take very different turns.
For two weeks, Bozar offers an extensive programme consisting of nine films featuring some of Hong Sangsoo's earliest works and a selection of the films he made in his most recent years. Hong Sangsoo first gained attention in 1996 with The Day a Pig Fell into the Well. Over the years, he has earned numerous international awards. Besides being a professor of screenwriting and directing in Seoul, he remains one of the most inventive and prolific filmmakers in contemporary cinema.
