This documentary reveals little-known facets of the life and work of Belgian Surrealist painter René Magritte (1898-1967). From his troubled childhood in Hainaut to his great American success, through his stormy relations with the Parisian Surrealists and the major phases of an extraordinary artistic career, this film looks back at the complex personality of a man of bourgeois appearance who changed our view of the world forever.
