Meet the artist

Born in Brussels in 1969, Jihef has always been artistic. A fan of self-expression, thrills and urban exploration, he started painting walls in the middle of the 80s, inspired by comic art, skate punk and above all New York subway graffiti. His main aim is to give his town some colour and adventure. He was very active in the graffiti movement until 1996, and although he has since “laid down arms”, his love of painting remains. Fed by years of nocturnal mural making, his work draws on painting, automatic writing and drawing, combining a lively style with complementary and contrasting colours.

Rage will have a conversation with Dirk Verstockt (director and former programmer at Beursschouwburg).
