‘Radu Muntean’

Radu Muntean, born in 1971, is one of the key figures of the Romanian New Wave. Even though up until now he is less well-known than his compatriots Corneliu Porumboiu (whose latest film Treasure, just like One Floor Below was premiered as part of ‘Un Certain Regard’ at this year’s Cannes Film Festival), and Golden Palm winner Cristian Mungiu (4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days), Radu Muntean has been involved in this cinematographic movement for a few years now. The best known of his six films to date is another Cannes selection Tuesday, After Christmas (2010), a compelling and intense drama about adultery that is exclusively filmed in uninterrupted shots.
