‘Quatuor Arod & Alexandre Tharaud’

18 Dec.'19
- 20:00

Alongside works by Schumann and Brahms, Franck’s Piano Quintet is one of the greats of the genre. The enthusiasm of the Quatuor Arod and the sensitivity of the French pianist Alexandre Tharaud give this work, so greatly admired by Debussy, the dramatic intensity it deserves. Before getting into the quintets, the young musicians of the Quatuor Arod put all their energy and spontaneity into the works of two great masters. Firstly Schubert, whose String Quartet n° 4 is a masterpiece with a great variety of character: at times sensitive and intense, at times lively and frivolous; and then Bartók, whose Fifth String Quartet marks an important evolution in his approach to the form, without moving away from the assertive and determined character specific to its composer.
