‘PREMIERE: La Danseuse - Stéphanie di Giusto’

13 Sept.'16
- 20:00

In the presence of Soko & the director

There was nothing to suggest that Loïe Fuller, born in the American Midwest, would become the star of the Parisian belle-époque cabarets and even less that she would dance at the Paris Opera. That was, until she invented the serpentine dance. Hidden under meters of silk, her arms extended using long wooden rods, she captivated audiences. Even when her physical efforts ended up damaging her back, she didn’t give up. But her encounter with the ambitious dancer Isadora Duncan would eventually lead to her downfall.

Selected for the Un Certain Regard section of the Cannes Film Festival in 2016.
