During 1968, while her career was in the doldrums in the United States, Judy Garland travelled to London for a series of sold out concerts. Her hope was to earn enough money to be able to provide a stable life for her children in the United States. Ever since rising to fame as a child star, Judy had lived on pills and alcohol. While people tried to exploit her, all she wanted was to be happy with her children and to make her own choices. With performances of such famous songs as Somewhere Over the Rainbow, Renée Zellweger is impressive in the role of this celebrity, revealing all the fragility and vulnerability of a tragic Judy Garland.
