‘PREMIERE: Final Portrait - Stanley Tucci’

A great friend of the painter and sculptor Alberto Giacometti, after repeatedly refusing the American art critic James Lord finally accepted to sit for the master. The sessions rapidly took on the nature of a confrontation between these two strong personalities.  

 

The creation of Alberto Giacometti's final masterpiece captured by award-winning director Stanley Tucci (known for Big Night & Blind Date), starring Geoffrey Rush (The King’s Speech), Armie Hammer (Nocturnal Animals) and Clémence Poésy (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows). A chance to step into the world of the world-famous artist Alberto Giacometti and to encounter his forceful personality, humour, method of working, favourite pastime and distinctive way of communicating. We follow the artist over two weeks in the Paris of the 1960s. Giacometti wants to paint a portrait of his American friend, the well-known writer and art critic James Lord. When he fails to honour his promise that it would only take a couple of hours, James misses his flight. The couple of hours soon become days. Lord gains insight into the artist's way of working as we witness the difficulties and frustrations of the process and the final creation of Giacometti’s final masterpiece.
