‘Positive Expressions: Art, HIV and I’

When the first case of AIDS was confirmed in the United States on 5 June 1981 nobody could have imagined the impact this disease would have on the world. At first it was mostly homosexual men who were affected by AIDS, but in the course of the 1990s heterosexuals, women and children were also infected with the virus. Today more than 35 million people worldwide are HIV positive and the stigmatisation they endure is a day-to-day reality. BOZAR is organising, in close collaboration with Exaequo, a discussion evening on the role played by art during the "AIDS era", a comforting role that it continues to play today.  
La FABRIC'ART-Thérapie is an association of patients, artists and socio-medical professionals that organizes workshops to encourage expression, communication and therapeutic education. Very active in combatting HIV/SIDA and in supporting people suffering from a chronic disease, La FABRIC'ART develops partnerships with associations, museums, cultural centres and care establishments with the aim of optimising and harnessing the know-how of all.  
The evening will end with a quilt unfolding, conducted by the La Fabric’Art-therapie.
