In the presence ofTakako Komatsu (producer)

Atsushi is an honest, yet clumsy man who’s spent most of his life obsessed with his work. When Atsushi finally retires to settle down with his loving wife Ryoko, he can’t seem to figure out what to do with himself without his work. Out of concern for her husband, Ryoko asks Atsushi to build a stone wall she’s wanted for most of her life. One day Ryoko has a heart attack and discovers she has a terminal heart condition. However, she hides this diagnosis from Atsushi and continues living normally because she doesn’t want to upset him. The film is based on a novel by Edward Mooney Jr. titled The Pearls of the Stone Man.
