Neutelings Riedijk Architects present their new book Ornament and Identity. In this successor to their successful book At Work Neutelings Riedijk explore the possibilities of using contemporary ornaments as a means to create local identity in a globalised world. 

 

Over the past twenty-five years, the office has gained international acclaim with a portfolio of public buildings and complex urban projects that stand out for their clear concepts, powerful sculpturality and the use of special materials and ornaments, often designed in collaboration with artists.  

 

Some well-known projects Belgian projects are the MAS in Antwerp, the STUK Performing Arts Center in Leuven, and the Herman Teirlinck Building in Brussels. In the Netherlands, they realized amongst others the Cultural Centers Rozet in Arnhem and Eemhuis in Amersfoort, the Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision in Hilversum, the City Hall in Deventer, and the Natural History Museum Naturalis in Leiden. 

 

The presentation is followed by a conversation between Chantal Pattyn and Willem Jan Neutelings and Michiel Riedijk themes of the book.
