Brahms & Mernier

Brahms' Third Symphony, completed in 1883, showcases an exceptional range of emotions. While some label this symphony as ‘heroic’ (similar to Beethoven's Third), it also offers plenty of introspective moments. The superb third movement is the most well-known, inspiring artists like Frank Sinatra, Serge Gainsbourg, and Carlos Santana with its melancholic slow pace. The concert opens with Deux mouvements symphoniques by Belgian composer Benoît Mernier, the second movement of which will be premiered during Brahms Festival.
