Ennio Morricone: works for orchestra and film music
With over 500 compositions for film and TV productions to his name, Ennio Morricone is perhaps one of the twentieth century’s most prolific composers of film scores. His original scores for the films of Sergio Leone and Brian De Palma haven taken on such mythical status that we tend to forget another, different side of this musician: the “classical” Morricone. His catalogue of orchestral works and choir music is equally impressive, including among others Voci dal silenzio (2002), which was dedicated to the victims of 9/11. Two faces of one and the same genius, which the OPRL has chosen to highlight in this concert.
Inglorious Basterds (the Big Gundown) / Casualties of War (Elegy for Brown)
Un Omaggio affettuoso ed eccentrico al Maestro Morricone (Première - commission Ars Musica)
The Mission (Gabriel’s Oboe)

The Untouchables (Theme)
Le Clan des Siciliens (Suite)
