‘Orchestre Philharmonique Royal de Liège’

25 Sept.'19
- 20:00

Rhythmic frenzy, melodies from pagan Russia and sacrificial rites: all the ingredients of Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring combine to turn this masterpiece into the biggest scandal in the history of music! The work is the perfect opening to “(R)evolution,” the Orchestre Philharmonique Royal de Liège’s new season and, at the same time, inaugurates Gergely Madaras’ tenure as musical director of the orchestra. As a prelude to the concert, the OPRL will give the audience a chance to savour Enescu’s Romanian folklore, tinged with French colours, and the romantic outpourings of Tchaikovsky’s Rococo Variations, performed by violin virtuoso István Várdai.
