‘Orchestre des Champs-Élysées, Collegium Vocale Gent, Philippe Herreweghe’

Philippe Herreweghe is one of today's greatest interpreters of Bach. With his choir and orchestra, he presents Haydn's Die sieben letzten Worte unseres Erlösers am Kreuze (The Seven Last Words of Our Saviour on the Cross). This oratorio demonstrates Haydn's incredible technical mastery: all of its sections, except for the last, are slow, but the work teems with contrasting rhythms, themes, and moods, keeping listeners on the edges of their seats.
