Kontinent
Vocalist Janne Mark likes to draw inspiration from the spiritual and folk traditions of the North. In Kontinent, she delivers songs with trumpeter Arve Henriksen that oscillate between improvisation and meditative energies. The suave, delicate velvet of the voice is mixed with the restrained sensuality of the trumpet. The rapport between the artists seems so spontaneous that it gives the ensemble a continuous aesthetic coherence, despite the different eras and the variety of genres they take on together. From this intimate dialogue emerges an indescribable delight, sublimated by enchanting and inspired melodies with deliciously jazzy accents.
