Making a Living from the Arts in 2025

The artists of the future are hybrid multi-skilled professionals who demand the acknowledgement of their key-role in all parts of society to contribute to the ambition of Europe to become the most competitive, knowledge-based economy globally.
Through its three years of activities and experience, the Creative Europe co-funded project, NXT – Making a Living from the Arts has investigated the challenges that emerging artists and creatives are facing today in developing their artistic careers. The NXT Seminar - Making a Living from the Arts in 2025, hosted and in collaboration with Culture Action Europe and BOZAR, tables a set of recommendations and the outcomes emerging from the project research and activities.
The project research, which collected the feedback of about 200 stakeholder institutions and includes 9 case studies from both higher arts education institutions and creative hubs, aims to deepen the understanding of how artists are prepared to develop the professional skills they will need tomorrow.
