Conversation with Nuri Bilge Ceylan, followed by the film Climates

19:30 Conversation between Nuri Bilge Ceylan & Kerem Ayan (IKVS – Director Film Festival Istanbul)

With seven full-length films and one short film to his credit, director Nuri Bilge Ceylan is recognised as today’s leading Turkish film-maker. His slow, poetic and concentrated style is highly distinctive while at the same time reflecting the influence of his models, such as Yasujiro Ozu, Ingmar Bergman and Andrej Tarkovski. His magnificent, precise and photographic images transport you to a lonely yet dazzlingly beautiful world. In 2014 his film Winter Sleep won a Golden Palm award at the Cannes Film Festival.

20:00 SPECIAL SCREENING: Climates – Nuri Bilge Ceylan

Isa and Bahar are two lost souls in search of the happiness that has eluded them. In this film, Turkish director Nuri Bilge Ceylan uses a photographic depth of field to masterful effect. He sketches a delicately poignant portrait of a couple in flight. Relics of the past form the decor.
