In memoriam Philippe Hirschhorn
There could surely be no better way to pay a tribute to the late lamented musician and teacher Philippe Hirschhorn than with a concert featuring his most famous former pupil? The Dutch violinist Janine Jansen, who surely needs no introduction, is the soloist in the extraordinarily difficult concerto that Brahms wrote for the virtuoso Joseph Joachim. The programme also includes music by Hirschhorn’s favourite composer, Franz Schubert.
