Discover the Archives

Seventy-five years to the day after the very first Concert pour la jeunesse, the Centre for Fine Arts is organising a jubilee concert. 17 October 1940 marked the launch of the Jeunesses Musicales, a programme intended to encourage young people to take up a musical instrument. In the weeks running up to this commemorative concert, you can (re)live this fundamental chapter in the history of Belgian music. In addition to some remarkable items from the archives of the federated departments, we have dug the oldest documents relating to the Jeunesses Musicales out of the BOZAR archives and these will all be on display around the Henry Le Bœuf Hall. A virtual presentation gives you the chance to take a closer look at some of these, including the 1950 Visitors’ Book with drawings by artists such as René Magritte, Paul Delvaux and Paul Klee.
