Monteverdi's L'Orfeo is undoubtedly the first highlight of the opera genre. The talented poet and musician Orpheus, who was even able to use his music to charm the gods into rescuing dead Euridyce from the underworld, still succeeds in capturing the imagination today. Argentine Alarcón knows this work inside out. He recently made another acclaimed recording of this favola in musica with Valerio Contaldo and Mariana Flores as the dreamy tragic couple. Come and discover this Italian masterpiece in which Monteverdi manages to translate a burgeoning expressive Baroque into music.
