‘Mercier & Mercier’

Brussels today is a pool of attraction for urban nature lovers with its 300 zones given over to allotments, green areas on former undeveloped sites and parks with their 'guinguettes' or summer bars. A trend that is in evidence in a growing number of towns and cities across the globe. Yet the enthusiasm with which the people of Brussels are creating green zones is quite exceptional.

Christophe and Jacques Mercier write about this enthusiasm in Paysages citoyens à Bruxelles, a book in which this father and son describe 50 green projects, presented borough by borough across the city.

The book launch is a part of the Brussels Urban Landscape Biennial (BULB), as is the exhibition Rising Waters — Shaping Our Gardens, Streets And Urban Valleys.
