When a famous indie-pop singer decides to join forces with one of the great virtuosos of flamenco guitar the upshot is a duo that is brimming with energy and creativity. This collaboration between singer Marinah, former leader of the group Ojos de Brujo, and guitarist Juan Gómez “Chicuelo” has resulted in Sintonías (DISM, 2016), a vibrant album, combining compositions and arrangements with Cuban, Catalan and gypsy influences. With rumba as a point of convergence for their improvisations, the two musicians give themselves over a lively and intense creative performance, to which the legendary figures Miles Davis, John Coltrane and Federico García Lorca have also been invited.
